If building your brand is important to you, there are some things you should do to protect it. You will never see a Fortune 500 company use their logo on an advertisement in a way that lacks quality. Another thing you will never see is a misspelled word or errors in grammar. They always employ a high standard to ensure quality control and that their advertising and marketing collateral promote excellence.
If they do that, why shouldn’t you?
As a small business or non-profit, many do not take the time to develop quality flyers that represent their service or product well. Here a few quick tips to remember when creating your flyers and other promotions for your products, services, events, or otherwise.
1) Always use your logo in the highest possible resolution.
Send your graphic designer, web designer or whomever is creating your content, a high resolution logo. In fact, it’s always good to send them a logo with a transparent background in EPS or PNG format.
2) Use high quality photos.
These days you can probably find a photographer who is just starting out and looking to build their portfolio. If so, they might be willing to take high quality photos of you for free or for a very reduced price. If you can’t find that person, don’t be shy, pay for it. High resolution (high quality photos) are an investment.
3) Check your flyers for spelling and grammatical errors.
Believe it or not, people are turned off when they see spelling errors on flyers. They may not say it to your face but they mock you and question your ability to produce a quality product or service. Trust me, it’s true. Check your spelling. Check your grammar. Proofread it before you send it to your graphic designer. Do not rely on your graphic designer to be your spell checker. (Some may even charge you extra more for it.)
If your brand is important to you, do what’s necessary to ensure it’s always presented in the best possible light.
